Joel has been a PGA member since 2019, where he undertook his traineeship with the PGA of Australia at the Gisborne Golf Club. With ambitions of playing professionally, Joel completed his traineeship with an advanced status in coaching before stepping out and competing professionally for 2 years. Unfortunately, injuries got the better of Joel and he turned his attention to his other passion, helping people improve at the game he loves.
Joel believes the most significant issue holding golfers back is overthinking and overcomplicating the game. From his time as an elite amateur and playing professionally, as well as the countless students he's coached, Joel has adopted a coaching style that's simple, effective and easy to understand.
Be it beginners right through to tour professionals, Joel believes each student is unique, and that is why he coaches students to swing their swing; rather than trying to "teach perfect", he is genuinely invested in each student's improvement.
Joel has run women's programs and is incredibly passionate about getting more women into and excelling at golf. Along with this, Joel has significant experience coaching junior golfers, helping them learn, grow, get a handicap and above all else, have fun playing the game of golf.
For those who like data, Joel has a Flightscope Mevo+ launch monitor available to capture the finer points of your golf swing.
